For professional advisors

When a client asks you something you cannot answer.

Family offices, private banks, and the lawyers and advisors who hold the rest of a client's private affairs.

Why this page exists

You already handle everything else in this client's life.

A principal raises it obliquely — after a review, on the way out, framed as a joke. They are alone, or in something that is not working, and they will not put it to anyone who reports to them or is related to them. You are the person they trust with everything else, so it lands with you.

There has rarely been anywhere sensible to send it. An introduction service is beneath the relationship you have with them, and a therapist is the wrong answer to a question they have not framed as a problem. That gap is what we were built for.

How a referral works

Quietly, and with your name protected as carefully as theirs.

01

You speak to us first, if you prefer

Many advisors call before mentioning us at all, to judge whether it is the right answer. Nothing is recorded and no name is required at that stage.

02

They come to us, not the other way round

We never approach your client. You give them our name; they write when they are ready, or never. We will not follow up on a name you mention.

03

Consultation, and an honest answer

If we do not believe we can serve them well we say so and charge nothing — which protects your judgment as much as their time.

04

You hear nothing further

We do not confirm to you whether they made contact, applied, or were accepted. Their file is theirs. If they want you to know, they will tell you.

What we will and will not do

No commission, and no reciprocity.

We pay no referral fees and accept none. A commission would give you an interest in our being retained, and give your client a reason to wonder about your advice. Neither of us needs that.

Nor do we expect anything in return. We will not ask you to introduce us to your book, to co-brand anything, or to appear at an event with us.

  • We never contact a client you have mentioned.
  • We never confirm whether someone approached us.
  • We pay and accept no referral fee of any kind.
  • We do not name the firms that refer to us, ever.
  • We coordinate with you only if your client asks us to.
  • Where a matter becomes legal or financial, it goes back to you.

A conversation first

Speak to a principal.

Not a sales call. Thirty minutes with someone who leads mandates, so that you can judge for yourself whether this is a name you would put in front of a client.

Write to office@legendpartner.com and mark it for the attention of a principal. We do not ask for your client's name, and you should not send it.

Received

Thank you. A principal will write to you.

Usually within two working days. Nothing you have sent is added to a mailing list, and we will not contact you again unless you ask us to.

The best referrals we receive come from people who checked us out properly first.
